URLTO GUIDE
A useful website audit prioritizes problems instead of chasing a score.
Start with issues that can prevent indexing, then check document structure, sharing metadata, and technical security signals. That order makes a quick audit easier to act on.
1. Check indexing blockers first
- Confirm the page returns an expected HTTP status
- Confirm the final page uses HTTPS
- Check meta robots and X-Robots-Tag for noindex
- Confirm the canonical points to the intended public host
2. Check core search-result signals
- Use a meaningful page title
- Write a description that reflects the page
- Use a clear primary H1
- Set the document language and mobile viewport
3. Check sharing and structured signals
- Review Open Graph title and description
- Use JSON-LD where structured data is appropriate
- Give meaningful images useful alt text
4. Review response and security headers
HSTS, Content-Security-Policy, and X-Content-Type-Options are more about browser protection and technical trust than direct ranking points. URLTO Quick Audit surfaces them next to SEO and document checks so important technical gaps are easier to notice.
What URLTO Quick Audit covers
Quick Audit currently inspects the server response for one public HTML page. It does not execute JavaScript or crawl the full site, and it does not persist the submitted URL or result to a URLTO account or analytics database. Private/local networks and non-standard ports are blocked to reduce server-side request forgery (SSRF) risk.
