URLTO GUIDE

A shorter URL should not mean less trust.

Short links make sharing easier, but they also make the original destination less visible. That makes transparent sharing and abuse handling part of the product, not optional extras.

If you create short links

  • Explain the destination clearly in the surrounding message
  • Do not use copy that impersonates another brand
  • Keep private management URLs private
  • Test the final destination on real devices before printing or buying ads
  • Disable or delete links that are no longer needed

If you open short links

  • Be cautious with links from unknown messages
  • Before entering credentials or payment details, re-check the final domain in the address bar
  • Report suspicious URLTO links through the abuse form

What a shortener operator should do

Rate limits, private-address rejection, abuse reporting, operator blocking and management-secret protection work best as layers. No single automatic classifier perfectly separates every legitimate link from every malicious one.

Do not hide the trust boundary

URLTO keeps the redirect path fast instead of forcing an advertising interstitial before the destination. Monetization is intended for tool and content surfaces where it does not obscure where a link is taking the visitor.
