Image resizing10-part series
Maximum dimensions, aspect ratios, portraits and output review.
Know the feature scope
Downsize PNG, JPEG and WebP proportionally in the browser without upscaling. Inputs are bounded by 20 MB, 20 megapixels and 8192px per side; metadata and animation are not preserved as originals.
Series contents
10 guides- 01
Prepare web images: resize, compress and choose a format
Prepare PNG, JPEG and WebP images for publishing. Distinguish pixel dimensions from file size, choose transparency and quality settings and inspect the exported result before replacing the original.
- 02
Fit an image inside maximum dimensions proportionally
Maximum dimensions are bounds, not an exact output rectangle. Check the proportional result inside both limits.
- 03
Understand proportional resizing without distortion
Both dimensions use one scale when a limit applies. Calculate why output height differs from its maximum.
- 04
Why a small original is not enlarged
This tool downsizes. Larger bounds do not enlarge a small original or generate new detail.
- 05
Calculate portrait width under a maximum-height limit
Portraits can reach the height bound first. Identical maximums can produce different dimensions from landscape images.
- 06
Check image limits by file size, pixels and side length
Small files can contain many pixels. Input checks cover file size, total pixels and each side.
- 07
Choose output format for photos and transparent logos
Resizing and format selection both affect output. Review background and detail needs for photos and transparent logos.
- 08
Review small text and logos after downsizing
Downsizing can weaken small lines and text. Review at the actual display size after fitting dimensions.
- 09
Review a resized export before publication
After download, check dimensions, orientation, format and content. Retain the source for future edits.
- 10
What to check when an image export looks wrong
Diagnose a larger file, changed transparency, unexpected dimensions or a failed image export. Compare the source with the output and choose settings that fit its purpose.
