URLTO GUIDE
When a QR will not scan or opens the wrong page
A camera failing to read a code is different from a URL failing after the code is read. Check the image separately from the address it contains.

1. Test the URL and image separately
Open the HTTP or HTTPS URL you encoded in a browser first. URLTO makes the QR image without visiting the destination to verify the page. If the address fails directly, fix the link or destination before adjusting print dimensions.
2. Narrow the cause from the symptom
| Symptom | Compare first |
|---|---|
| Screen version works; print does not | Physical size, blur, material and placement |
| Neither image scans | Original PNG versus edited image |
| URL is decoded but will not open | Direct URL access and link status |
| A different page opens | Encoded URL, selected file and current destination |
3. Review image editing and printing
Check whether the white border was cropped or decoration covers the pattern. Repeated compression, enlargement or screenshots can blur edges. Replace the edited image with the original downloaded PNG and compare a print at the intended physical size.
A small sign, reflective glass and a folded leaflet have different conditions. Test at the actual distance, lighting and fold position rather than assuming one minimum size works everywhere. Compare image edits and printing conditions separately.
4. Check the URL type before reprinting
If the QR decodes a public short URL correctly, review its destination, activation and expiry settings, then retest the existing print. A typo encoded in a direct-destination QR requires a replacement image. Keep filenames and records showing which code was placed where.
Frequently asked questions
Should I compress a QR before printing?
Pattern clarity and its border matter. Start with the original PNG and judge any edited version through a test of the final printed material.
Can I add click activity after creating a direct QR?
A direct-destination image keeps opening its encoded address. To use URLTO redirect activity, publish a QR containing the public short URL from the start.
