URLTO GUIDE
What to check when an image export looks wrong
An export is not guaranteed to be smaller. Review pixel dimensions, format, quality and background separately to decide which setting needs attention.

1. Review the input limits first
Use PNG, JPEG or WebP up to 20 MB, 20 megapixels and 8192 pixels per side. A small file can still exceed the dimension limits. If it cannot be read, check its actual format and dimensions rather than merely renaming the extension.
2. Review settings according to the symptom
| Symptom | Setting to inspect | Inspect the result |
|---|---|---|
| File is larger | Format, quality and source size | Exported file bytes |
| Transparency becomes white | Whether output is JPEG | Background and logo edges |
| Output is not square | Maximum dimensions and aspect ratio | Distinguish cropping from fitting |
| PNG quality setting does not help | PNG output behavior | Review dimensions or another format |
3. Separate file size from display dimensions
Resize preserves aspect ratio, fits within maximum dimensions and does not upscale. Fitting 2400×1600 within 1200×1200 produces 1200×800. Compression and conversion can retain dimensions, so file-size savings and suitability for the publishing layout are separate checks.
The tools redraw and export images in the browser. Do not use that workflow to preserve original animation or metadata. JPEG fills transparent areas with white, so review whether it suits a transparent logo. Keep the source and compare exports against the required output conditions.
4. Judge the downloaded output
Changed settings can clear an earlier result; inspect the newly processed output. Check its dimensions, bytes, background and small text rather than replacing the source based only on the preview. For shared cards, also test the public image URL and layout. Investigate failed exports with a smaller supported source or another output format.
Frequently asked questions
Is a larger-file message an error?
Another format or quality can produce a file larger than the source. Compare its size with the quality you need before choosing settings.
Can the resize tool enlarge a small image?
This tool fits within maximum dimensions without upscaling. Prepare a larger source when your publishing purpose requires one.
