URLTO GUIDE
Prepare a printed QR, from URL to physical test
A QR that works on screen can behave differently in print. Finish the job by checking the physical size, material and lighting that your visitors will encounter.

1. Choose the URL to encode
The URLTO QR tool makes PNG codes for HTTP and HTTPS web URLs. It does not generate phone, Wi-Fi or arbitrary-text codes. Use a direct destination for a fixed page, or create a short URL first if you need destination controls and redirect activity.
2. Plan measurement by placement
To distinguish a store poster from an event leaflet, prepare separate tagged destinations and short URLs. A QR cannot discover its print location. Record which link was used in each placement and give the image files clear names.

Illustrative setup Store poster → store_poster / offline / event_2026 Event leaflet → event_leaflet / offline / event_2026 Each tagged destination → a separate short URL → a separate QR
3. Review the layout at its physical size
Keep the PNG's white border and avoid enlargement or decoration that blurs its pattern. Check contrast, folds and curved surfaces. Choose a size through tests at the intended scanning distance instead of assuming one physical size works everywhere.
4. Check before approving the print run
- Verify the code in the final layout contains the intended public URL
- Print a sample at final size and scan with different phones
- Check the destination title, mobile form and completion flow
- Check that the QR contains the public short URL, not a private control URL
- Retest the original printed material after a destination change
